The African-American artist Charles Reynolds (born in 1927) attended the Philadelphia College of Art from 1945 through 1949. After graduating, he briefly did freelance work, before getting to the military service in December 1950. In the mid 1950s, he relocated to Washington DC, and served as an illustrator for the US Army, where he remained through at least the early 1980s. During his Army career, he received steady and regular promotions and lived in Washington, DC. In addition to his Army illustrations, Reynolds produced works depicting various African tribal groups, 'psychedelic abstracts', as well as erotic art.
